Jake and I had both dated a lot of other people before finding each other. But let me just tell you…when we did finally find each other it was as if the planets aligned! It felt different with Jake…it was as if we had already known each other for a long time…we were MFEO (Made For Each Other)! The last five years have been the best years of our lives. One of the greatest things about marriage is that you always have your best friend beside you to lift you up when you are down, and to celebrate with you when you are up. We are completely committed to one another and look forward to a lifetime of laughter together.
How We Met
After graduating from college, we met in a class about family history. Jake was responsible for co-teaching the class. The subject matter intrigued Andrea, so she signed up. Jake’s co-teacher was an expert on the topic, so Jake found that the best way that he could contribute was to bake cookies for every session. Chocolate chip cookies just happen to be one of Andrea’s weaknesses. After the completion of the 6 week course, 6 weeks of cookies, and a few hints from Andrea, Jake asked her out on a date!
On our first date, we tried a fancy new restaurant and had great conversation. Things just seemed so natural and comfortable when we were together. After dinner we went to Jake’s apartment to bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies together! Since then, we have pretty much spent every day together!
Our family means everything to us. It is important to us that we make time to have dinner together every evening and we will continue this throughout our lives. We love being able to sit and hear about each other’s days and deepen our relationship. We also try to have some kind of fun night together at least once a week, a mini vacation every quarter, and a big vacation annually. We believe in making memories and that spending time together as a family must be a priority!
Saving for the Future
Since Andrea is a financial advisor, being financially secure is especially important for us. We always live within our means, strive to give generously to charities, and save for both long and short term goals every month. We live conservatively, we work to have a properly funded emergency fund, and we pay for our needs with cash. We hope to teach our children how to work hard and how to have a healthy relationship with money.

Running and Exercise
We love to run and we have run several races together. We want to be in great shape so that we can be active with our kids. We have stunning trails and parks near our home and we look forward to enjoying the outdoors with our children.
Trying New Restaurants
There is something special about eating delicious food with great conversation! We have tried all kinds of cuisines from Ethiopia to Germany, and from Japan to Argentina. We are excited to give our children the experiences of trying new foods to see what they like!
We LOVE to travel. During our time together, we have had the opportunity to take a handful of fabulous trips. Jake had a business trip to London, England and Munich, Germany a couple years ago. We loved walking around London and seeing all of the history there.
We also took a trip to Chicago recently to be a part of a wedding for one of Jake’s friends.
In addition to the far away journeys, we’ve also traveled to Hawaii, Las Vegas, St. George, and Lake Powell, and California to name few.
Summer and Winter Sports
Andrea grew up skiing and snowboarding. She loves to go up to the mountains whenever she can. On our third date, I taught Jake how to snowboard. He fell down a lot at first, but quickly caught on. He’s pretty good now and can definitely get down the mountain in one piece. Now we love going together and enjoying the outdoors, especially when we catch a day with fresh powder. The best part is snuggling under a blanket with hot chocolate when we get home! Every summer we like to spend time with Andrea’s family boating. We enjoy wakeboarding and tubing the most! We love making memories and spending time with family.
We are so excited about our future. We are passionate about becoming parents someday and having the opportunity to raise our kids to be great people. We plan to give our future children opportunities to learn how to make good choices and learn about this beautiful world! We promise that we will always love our children unconditionally.
